International summer fencing camp in Poland - Drzonkow
Over the past 10 years I have been organising the summer fencing camps in Drzonkow - a village in the west of Poland, a well known for its state of the art facilities where Modern Pentathlon is the specialty. It has been the home to many Modern Pentathlon World Championships and World Cups for Junior and Senior competitions. The camp provides a great opportunity for all participants to fence against and train together with the best fencers from Poland and Germany and offers a solid preparation for the upcoming competition season.
In 2020 the camp will take place between 16th-23rd August. More information coming soon.

Hi, my name is Erin. I have gone to a professional sports centre in Poland for four consecutive years with my coach Kamil
to train for fencing. In this centre they have held many national competitions for things such as: table tennis, horse riding and fencing. When I'm training for fencing the routine of the day is very much based on at least two fencing sessions a day
and the opportunity to fence German and Polish fencers is not one to miss. And as well as fencing as my highlight, we have one opportunity to paintball in the woods which is something that I will always remember. Also you get to go swimming in the indoor Olympic sized pool, or the outdoor heated pool which has different water jets and it's brilliant fun! As you go though the week you will do stuff like scenario fencing, solo competitions and team competitions. With these three main plays of fencing you will learn at least another way to hit someone without thinking too hard about a counter attack for back up. In a team competition you will be separated into a group of four or five and separated into age and how confident you feel and go against another team. At the end of the week there is a massive bonfire with marshmallows and sausages and all sorts of food, you will be there with German, Polish and English fencers. There will be an award ceremony to finish it off. I would highly recommend this trip as I can positively say I will be going again next year. I will see you there!!

Fencing Camp in Drzonkow is one of the funnest camps I’ve ever been to. Kamil, our coach, ensures that the day not only involves a suitable amount of fencing where we can meet new fencers, make new friends and enhance our skills, but also includes a variety of other activities, such as swimming and paintball. The food at the hotel is always great and the camp pushes you to excel while also meeting new people. I am still Friends with many of the people I have met there and every year going back to the camp we can see each other again and make new friends.
Fencing is a key part to every day, and as relaxation the fencers go swimming daily. Other than the fencing and swimming, all fencers from different countries join together to play paintball and participate in a forest trek. I would recommend the camp to any budding fencer looking for a fun week abroad.

The poland fencing camp in Dzonkow is an amazing experience, where you can mix the fun of fencing with the meeting of new friends, the enjoyment of new activities, and the discovery of a new and beautiful country. The fencing is, of course, the major focus of each and every day. You fence in a large hall with 2 or more fencing groups of different nationality, not only allowing you to broaden your fencing abilities against new and diverse opponents, but getting you to meet new and different people, and perhaps make you learn a few words or two of their language! After all your fencing during the day the camp wants you to remain in top shape, so serve a wide variety of delicious polish recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner to keep your muscles and brain at their best performance. Don’t worry, fencing and eating won’t be the only activities on the agenda. As rewards for your fencing efforts, a selection of fun and creative outings are arranged almost daily, including swimming, handball, and even paintball! After all this, your body will be exhausted, at which point your kind chaperones and coaches will take you back to your rooms so you can shower and rest for the following day. This camp has always made my year a better one, and I’m sure you will love it as much as I have.
